Assembly Aids

IKV manufacture a range of specialist lubricants which can be used as assembly aids or as a temporary friction modifier in order to help components slide more easily together whilst not affecting their performance after assembly. Some of these products are available in aerosol or spray form to allow the application of a thin film accurately applied only where required. The products have been designed with the following properties:

•    Ease of application

•    Compatibility with all plastics, rubbers and paints

•    Reduction in the coefficient of friction aids smooth, stick-slip free movement

•    Temporary, semi-permanent or permanent effect, depending upon application requirement.

Components such as rubber hoses, plastic bushes and o rings all can benefit from a thin film of lubricant to reduce the surface coefficient of friction and allow smooth, effortless assembly and movement whilst also ensuring better sealing and performance whilst fitted. Insertion/assembly forces can be significantly reduced helping to alleviate the need for expensive jigs and also eliminating potential for RSI (repetitive strain injury) where repeated operations are necessary.

This range of products has been developed to aid the assembly or fitting of components made of rubber, plastic or other difficult to assemble materials.

IKV also manufacture assembly greases and gels which are available with variable concentrations according to the needs of the application. They meet the requirements of manufacturers, easing assembly of components and thus gaining productivity, reducing fitting efforts, without migration.

Repetitive strain injury (RSI) (also known as repetitive stress injury, repetitive motion injuries, repetitive motion disorder (RMD), cumulative trauma disorder (CT), occupational overuse syndrome, overuse syndrome, regional musculoskeletal disorder) is an injury of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems that may be caused by repetitive tasks, forceful exertions, vibrations, mechanical compression (pressing against hard surfaces), sustained, or awkward positions.

Assembly aids can reduce insertion/assembly forces thereby helping to alleviate the need for expensive jigs and also eliminating potential for RSI (repetitive strain injury) where repeated operations are necessary.

IKV-FLUOR 32 C SPRAY is ideal for use as an assembly aid. It will reduce the friction coefficient, which will reduce the effort and the time needed for installation of the component.

Typical applications include:

•    Fitting and lubrication of automotive seals and weather-strips
•    Anti-squeak and component lubrication on interior trim of vehicles
•    Thin film lubrication of pivots, pins, springs, bushings and sliding contacts in a wide range of industries.

Temperature range: -40 to 100°C
Pack size: 400ml with extension nozzle.

IKV-FLUOR 70 Spray is a specialist product which can be applied to o-rings and seals to enhance their operation and to other fittings where lowered friction is the aim.

IKV-FLUOR 70 Spray is suited to all types of industry where a high technology lubricant or coating is required. It is extensively used as an ‘anti-squeak’ coating on interior trim, weather-strips & sealing systems within the automotive industry. It is also suitable for the lubrication of all bearings, chains and joints subjected to high temperatures, water and solvents.

Temperature range: -40 to 200°C
Pack size: 300ml with extension nozzle.

IKV-FLUOR 141 Spray is manufactured from a fully synthetic fluorinated PFPE oil, that is colourless and odourless for use in applications where a wide operating temperature range, non-flammability, and compatibility with other materials is required.

Because IKV-FLUOR 141 Spray is essentially inert, it is safe to use with all metals, plastics, leather and seal materials. It is ideal for applications on automotive interior trim and sealing systems where long life and excellent lubricity (a low coefficient of friction) are required. The product offers excellent ‘anti-squeak’ performance and is ideal
as an assembly aid due to its compatability with all substrates.

Temperature range: -40 to 150°C
Pack size: 75ml

IKV-FLUOR 32 Spray is a non-flammable, colourless and odourless perfluoropolyether PFPE oil in aerosol form for ease of application. The product is totally chemically & biologically inert and when applied to a substrate leaves a thin, almost undetectable film of a low friction, durable liquid fluoropolymer fluid. It is also compatible with all widely used elastomers, seals, gaskets, plastics and metals.

IKV FLUOR 32 Spray is widely used as an interface coating to eliminate squeaks on interior trim, seals and other parts of automotive vehicles. It is also suited to the lubrication of all mechanisms subjected to aggressive or corrosive conditions. It is also adapted to the lubrication and assembly of all plastic and rubber items due to its perfect compatibility with them.

Temperature range: -40 to 150°C.
Pack size: 400ml with extension nozzle.

IKV also manufacture assembly fluids and gels which can be used for all plastics, rubbers and metals to facilitate mounting and ensure free fitting without creating stresses and stretching within the part. These products can make the fitting of components considerably easier, reducing the required force and helping reduce the likelihood of operator RSI in repetitive or difficult operations.
